Nine years. Nine years ago we stood in front of our families and closest friends and vowed to spend the rest of our lives together. It hasn't always been fun, it hasn't always been easy, but the good times have certainly outweighed the bad, and for that I am grateful.
I'm not one to usually replay the day of an anniversary . . . at such - and - such time I was getting dressed, walking down the aisle, having our first kiss as man and wife, etc. But as I sat outside tonight, watching Rich and the boys play baseball, jump on the trampoline, and end the night in the pool with glow sticks, I had to laugh at how times had changed. 9 years ago we were surrounded by loved ones, dancing the night away, cold drinks in our hands. Even after the reception was over, I vividly remember standing at the window of our room, looking across the pool, and watching our guests leave the reception, meander through the lobby, coming and going from the bar, and thinking what a wonderful day it had been.
Oh, how times change. But as different as it was, I - and I'm sure I can say the same for Rich - wouldn't change it for the world.
Such a nice surprise arrived during nap time. |
