Pumpkin Patch

Still playing catch-up!

One of the mom's groups we've "joined" took a trip up to a pumpkin patch several weeks ago.  We had never been to a pumpkin patch before, but despite the muddy conditions and the fact that the patch was on a rather steep hill {!!!}, the boys had a blast.

Our morning in pictures:

Obviously, they were not interested in sitting still for a photo op.  So, we ran,

and ran,

and ran,

and ran.

Our attempt at a group shot.  No way were we getting all 7 faces {4 and under} at the same time. And Andy, the lone girl of the bunch, was none too thrilled with any of us.

G and his buddy, Josh, had a good time peeking through the {missing} window telling silly knock-knock jokes to the man who was working the patch.  Poor man humored them and they thought they were hysterical.

If you look closely in this one, you can see H inside the barn, watching the big boys through the window.

We really did have a nice time, but next year I think we'll try to find somewhere that has a flat patch.  Lugging a 20-something pound Hudson plus 35 pounds of pumpkins in a wagon up a steep, muddy hill isn't quite my idea of a good time.

But they made for a cute fall display {pictures to come} and some really cute jack-o-lanterns {coming soon!}

Big Boy Bike Ridin'

Totally playing catch-up here, but a couple weeks ago the weather was finally nice and so we took G to the local elementary school to try out his new {to him} bicycle.

I don't think either of us imagined he'd do as well as he did.  He only fell once, and it was when there was a training wheel malfunction.  Even then, he hopped back on and kept on going.

We were quite impressed that he was also able to pedal up the small incline of the parking  lot with minimal help.

While he rode in circles {and MORE circles!!} H tried to keep up...

...walked a few laps...
...climbed down some stairs...
...ate the badge some sheriff's deputies who stopped by the parking lot for a few minutes gave him...
...did a little rock tasting...
...yelled through the railing...
...ate some sticks...

...and did a little clapping.

No wonder he took a 4 hour nap that afternoon.

I'm sure it won't be long before we're out there with 2 bicycles.  Ahhh....where does the time go??!

SML

We just returned from our 2nd annual trip to Smith Mountain Lake...and fell in love with the place all over again!  During our time in Lynchburg, we were only about an hour drive, so our trips down were fairly frequent...well, Rich and Garrett's were.  The one summer we were down there was the summer of 2010, and since Hudson came June 18th, there weren't many trips down for us.  But, on our trip down last fall, Hudson went on his first boat ride:
Sweet baby.  He was barely 4 months old here.

Even though it was a much further drive this time (5ish hours), it was well worth the trip.  We had a wonderful long weekend.  I did actually take the real camera out of the bag {once} but seeing that this week is a crazy one, it might be a few days before I get it hooked up and the pictures off.

So, until then, our trip in cell phone pics.....

On the ride down.  He was watching a movie with his sunglasses.  Not quite sure how this happened!  =)

Saturday afternoon - our first day on the boat.  Helping Daddy drive.

Oma came down and stayed Friday night with us.  I wish she liked these guys!

Sunday morning, Hudson thought it was time for a little football.
{our view from the patio...ahhhhh.....}

We went up North today and even got the bonus of seeing cows get into the water for a drink.  Good stuff, I tell ya!

We went back to the condo for a bit and then went out for a sunset / booze cruise.  The boys passed the time with a little peek-a-boo.

Monday morning, this little cutie decided that 4:30am was a good time to wake up. By 7:15, this is what he looked like:
...and after approximately 10 minutes on the boat after he fell asleep {literally} sitting up, this was what he looked like at about 10:30:

We couldn't stand the thought of leaving, so we went back out for a couple hours this morning.

I'm not sure what was exactly going on here...some game, I'm sure.

This was how we ended the day.  Hudson desperately wanted to stand on things {I mean, why does this even begin to surprise me??!}.  The bench in the rear was the only place I felt comfortable letting him stand.  Made for a cute shot anyway.
