Phone Dump Friday

It's that time again! And a good thing...my phone was getting full!!

We have had a lot of daffodils in our yard!

But there are 2 BIG boys in my house who like to bring them to Mommy!  {Seriously.  He looks 4.}

How I found him one day after nap.  Shirtless.  The stick didn't come into play until G went in with me to wake him up . . . and brought him a stick. Of course.

77 cents and 2 pirates = what I found in G's bed one day at nap time.

Sweet Duke fans! {Thanks again, Auntie Kara!}

 We've {obviously} really been into wearing hats recently.

So much love!!

And, to wrap it up, a few {perfect} examples of how this 2nd child just might do me in. And I'm not exaggerating.

We were outside playing and getting ready to eat dinner.  H was playing in the yard and Rich and I both repeatedly called him.  He'd always "answer" us . . . and us being the parents of the year that we are, didn't realize he was saying "stuck" {uck!} and/or "help".  Whoops. {but seriously, kid.  Keep your feet on the ground!}

I went in to get him the other morning.  As I turned off his sound machine and opened his curtain, he said "poop" several times.  After I could see him - face in the mattress and bottom in the air - I could see the problem wasn't poop {and yes, I double checked before I left the room to get the phone/camera}.  By the time I came back he was standing up.  And this is the face I got when I asked him what he'd done.  Oy.

And then on Thursday, we went to the park.  A very cool park with a ton of space to play, things to climb on, and mulch to throw.  Apparently the following was much more fun . . .

I've said it before, but it bears repeating . . . prayers are appreciated.

Play Ball!

We signed G up for his first organized sport this spring . . . t-ball.  His first practice was last night and he loved it!  He did so well, too!  Not that we had any doubts physically, but he doesn't always jump right into new situations so gracefully.  Tonight, though, he ran onto the field and never looked back!

Even after laughing with Mom that I'd be the dorky parent with the camera out at the first practice, I walked off and forgot it.  Thanks to the trusty cell phone, at least I have some documentation of the organized chaos which ensued.  They really did quite well, but with 10 4 & 5 year olds, chaos was inevitable.

They practiced catching ground balls in their gloves . . .

. . . and throwing the ball to home plate.

What the "line" looked like 3 seconds later.

Not sure what G's doing to his buddy, Kaden, in this one, but that grin can only mean mischief!
H gave Daddy some hugs {and a run for his money, which is why he was being restrained - against his will - 6+ feet in the air}.

They practiced swinging, tossing the bat, and . . .

. . . running to first.

And they ended practice with everyone running the bases.

 Needless to say, G was asleep in about 4 minutes last night.  I wonder if we can practice every day??

Oh, and a funny story.  Out of the 10 kids on our team {we're the Lookouts, by the way} there are 2 Garretts!  Well, last night I was talking to the mom of the other Garrett who also had a toddler, and we were both laughing about how we chose the name Garrett in part because it wasn't overly common.  And yet, 20% of our little team is Garrett.  Odd enough.  Well, while we were talking, I asked how old her toddler {a boy} was and she said 21 months.  The following is a recap of the conversation:
{ME} "Oh, so is ours!  So he's a June baby?"

"Yes, June 18."

{Me} "NO WAY!!"

So, yeah.  Not only do we both have a Garrett, we both have a little boy born on June 18, 2010.  Now, had Parker's name been Hudson, that would've been too much!

First Haircut

Well, we did it.  While we were in Pennsylvania last time, it happened.  From behind, Hudson was referred to as a "she".  The waitress corrected herself as soon as she saw his face, of course, but it was done.

I don't mind long hair on boys.  At all.  However, my husband prefers short hair.  And, I don't like my boys being called girls.  I mean, they are pretty and all, but . . .

So, last Sunday, we did it.  Both of the big boys were getting a haircut, so we added H to the list of "big boys" living here.

A reminder of the before:
Sweet baby.

And, the after:

Yeah, we totally used a sucker to bribe him to sit still.

Sniff.

21 months

So . . . I'm not doing too well with the monthly updates on the crazy man.  I'll blame it on him to let go of some of the guilt.  He keeps me busy.

Hudson, you are

21  months old!!!

What you're up to these days:

* You haven't been to the doctor for a check-up recently, so I don't know your exact height and weight, but you're certainly in the upper 20 pound range and about 32".

* You're wearing 18 month pants and 24 month/2T shirts and size 7 shoes.

* You still have no fear and are quite independent.  You don't really care if we're around or not . . . you'll wander around a room full of people and not panic at all if you can no longer see us.

* You LOVE your Garrett!  As soon as you wake up you want to see him and you usually run and give him a big hug!  Melts my heart every time.

* You also love Miles, and much to her dismay, Mallory.

* You're really talking up a storm these days.  Some of your most common words are: "bo-pen" {open}; "bup" {up}; next to "Gah-et" {Garrett}, NO! is still your favorite word!; "My-al" {Miles}; "Maaa-ee" {Mallory}; "gin" {again}; "kiiiin-ky" {stinky! ha!}; ball; bubbles; "otty" {potty . . . anytime G goes}; "bapple"  {apple}; "nana" {banana}; "een" {McQueen . . . from Cars}; "main-er" {Mater . . . from Cars, of course!}; and Daddy.

* You love to be outside!

* You are 100% boy and come back inside positively filthy.  And, unlike your brother, you don't care a bit!

* You are quite the helper.  If we're picking up toys you'll help put them back in the baskets.  Just this morning you carried your empty bowl into the kitchen.  Completely unprompted.  As I put as my Facebook status: "TO MY FUTURE DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW: YOU'RE WELCOME!" ha!

* I love when you help with laundry. If left unsupervised, I'd be washing all loads twice.  Anything laying on the floor goes into the dryer, as well as the clean clothes from the washer.

* I {HONESTLY!} do love when you come to help me with diaper laundry.  I {apparently} smell each diaper as I transfer it to the dryer, and if you're in there with me, you'll pull each piece out, put it up to your face, and then hand it to me.  So precious!

* You make us laugh {and shake our head!} daily.  You're so funny and I can only imagine you as the class clown in a few years.  Your Daddy likes to remind me that I'll probably be getting lots of calls from the principal's office.  Oy.

* You're a very determined little boy.  You know what you want and when you want it.  And if you don't get it then and there, you let your displeasure be known.

Hudson, you are an amazing little man, so full of life.  My prayer continues to be to allow me to help you grow into the amazing man you are destined to become.  Without losing my mind first.  And without squelching your undeniable zest for life.

I can't believe you're a mere 3 months from being 2 years old and I can't believe I was the one chosen to watch you grow; to hear that contagious giggle, and see the sparkle in your eyes.  The sparkle that stands out when you're getting into mischief.  I love you more than words.  Happy 21 months, Buddy!

2 Little Fishies

The boys have always loved the water, and last summer Garrett proved he was quite the fearless fan.  Not surprisingly, his brother has joined the ranks.

Last weekend we were up in Pennsylvania visiting and decided to go spend the night in a hotel.  A hotel with a really cool pool.  We'd stayed there several years ago on a skiing trip and it was great.  But it's greatness took on a whole new meaning in the eyes of our guys.

Here are a few videos I took with my phone.  And I will apologize in advance for the impending crick in your neck.  YouTube and I are obviously not friends.  It's taken me 3 days to get these off my phone and onto YouTube . . . and where I can find them again.  Which, apparently, is why non-techy people {who are married to non-techy, 40 year old people - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABE!} should not try to do techy things.

EDITED: YouTube apparently decided it should {rightfully} be scared of me and my displeasure with him her it and decided to load the videos correctly.  A Lenten miracle for certain.  Yay!

Phone Dump Friday

We've had a rather uneventful couple weeks, hence the lack of blog posts.  But, as always, my phone is usually near the action.  Even the uneventful action.

We've done some kitchen flying {and Daddy's decided he needs to start lifting weights to be able to lift G like this for much longer!}

 We've done some swingin'.

We opened a Christmas gift from our friends and were astronauts for several days.  Until the cardboard couldn't withstand the force of a re-entry.

 We got some mail from Oma.  He told me he could read it . . . and he did just that.  One letter at a time.

 Modeling our mail from Oma. {Thank you, Oma!!}

 H insisted on bringing in some toys which were stashed {or so I thought} in the garage.  G enjoyed them, too.

We were in PA again last weekend and watched a little Polar Express.

Saturday night we went and spent the night at a hotel.  A hotel with a really cool pool.  I think they enjoyed themselves. {videos to come . . . if I can ever get them to upload!}

My newest endeavor . . . sewing cloth diapers.  I'm still in the testing phase {H has the cutest rear in the northern hemisphere!} but would love to start selling them soon.

Bath time love.

 We've had several gorgeous days this week and even picnicked while we babysat played with some friends for a couple hours.

And to end it, my sweet crazy-haired boy saying "eez!"
{who was mistaken as a girl from the rear last weekend.  I'm afraid a post documenting his first hair cut is around the corner. sniff.}

Happy Friday!
